Watercourse Surveys

Introduction
We recently completed a comprehensive watercourse survey and inspection programme for RBMC, providing high-resolution aerial and visual survey data across a network of watercourses and associated drainage infrastructure. The programme was undertaken to provide an accurate record of existing conditions, identify potential flood-risk constraints and support ongoing maintenance, asset management and future intervention planning.

Scope of Works
Watercourse Survey & Asset Inspection
Our team carried out systematic drone surveys along designated sections of watercourse, capturing high-resolution imagery of channels, banks, structures and surrounding areas. Drone technology enabled efficient coverage of challenging and restricted-access locations, providing detailed visual data while reducing the need for personnel to access potentially hazardous areas.

The inspections focused on identifying and documenting key flood-risk and asset-condition factors, including culvert and channel restrictions, trash and debris screens, vegetation encroachment, debris accumulation, bank erosion, blockages and other potential obstructions to hydraulic flow. The resulting imagery provides a detailed baseline condition record, supporting the prioritisation of maintenance requirements, identification of potential flood-risk issues and informed decision-making for future asset management and remedial works.
